Each year, the Development Council honors outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals through the Excellence in Economic Impact Awards. These recognitions celebrate those who demonstrate leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment to advancing economic growth and enhancing quality of life throughout Buffalo County.

This year, the Development Council selected Michael “Mike” Morgan to receive this recognition.

Serving as City Manager for nearly two decades, Morgan has played a pivotal role in shaping Kearney’s growth. His leadership has balanced fiscal responsibility with forward-thinking investments.

From airport improvements to recreational developments like the whitewater kayak trail and the Kearney Sportsplex, his contributions have strengthened both infrastructure and quality of life.  
His focus on long-term planning and leadership continuity ensures Kearney’s success will continue for years to come.
